Who Is X isn't a philosophy book in the academic sense. It's a two-volume account of one question that refused to leave the author alone , a strange, recurring déjà vu triggered by a week-long trip to Riga, Latvia, that slowly became a doorway into memory, identity, and the several selves we casually call "I."
Volume I: The Birth of X follows the unravelling itself sleepless nights, poems that kept circling the same unexplained images, and a quiet moment in a bathtub that finally shaped the question the whole book is built around: if déjà vu is a moment where past, present, and future almost touch, are you the same person in each one or three different people wearing the same name?
Volume II: The Face of X turns the question outward. Memory is put on trial as an unreliable witness, the ship of Theseus sails back in with new cargo, and the mirror you carry of yourself turns out to always be a few months behind who you've already become. By the end, the book asks something harder: if you are X, so is everyone you've ever mistaken for a side character in your own story.
No academic throat-clearing, no answers handed to you , just a method: notice yourself changing, grieve briefly for who you're leaving behind, and stop assuming you're the only main character in the room.
